How to recover Deleted Files on Your Mac OS X

It’s quite common to fall in a situation where you accidentally deleted some files and now you need them. You may have deleted them while cleaning up your system which is not so different from what usually happens when we clean a messy office desk. Unlike the office desk where an important file once sent along with garbage cannot be retrieved, it is possible to recover lost files on your Desktop. For PC users there is a decent software called Recuva by Piriform which can easily recover deleted files from your PC. However, for Mac users there is one similar software that serves the purpose pretty well called Disk Drill. This piece of software can recover lost images, videos, documents, applications at few simple commands.


In this guide I will be showing you how you can easy restore or recover deleted files on your Mac running OS X without any hassle using the Disk Drill software.

Without further ado, let’s just dig right in and start our recovery process.

Tutorial How to recover deleted Files on Mac

  1. Download the Disk Drill Software for Mac from here and install it.
  2. Start/Execute the software and select the type of file you intent to recover. You can select more than once at a time too. Then click “Next”.
  3. If you have a rough idea from which drive the file was deleted then select the drive, you can select a removable drive too. Then click “Recover”.
  4. On next window you will be asked to select either, deep scan, quick scan or Scan for Lost HFS Partition. Select either of the choice and proceed to scan.
  5. Once the scan is complete you will be shown a list of files that were deleted on your drive.
  6. Select the file you want to recover and click on Recover.
  7. You will be asked for a location to store your recovered files.

This is it, you have now successfully recovered your file and now you may recover any file that you accidentally deleted.
